A native of Indiana, Maggie Hames began her professional career as a news intern at News25 WEHT in Evansville, Indiana. It was there that she learned that journalists are people too, and her love for telling a good story took off.
As a student at the Indiana University School of Journalism, Maggie focused on PR, lending her expertise to causes such as the Coach Hep Indiana Cancer Challenge and the IU Student Foundation. She fell in love with healthcare PR while interning for Bloomington Hospital’s marketing and community relations department. Maggie helped the hospital deliver key messages by writing articles for internal communications, web copy, press releases, PSAs and more. She continued to develop her skills as a freelance writer for the hospital upon leaving Bloomington.
After graduating from IU, Maggie joined the author marketing services team for Author Solutions Inc. There, she managed multiple author campaigns as a publicist. She also played a key role in developing the department’s social media strategy, both for authors and corporate brands.
Her passion for PR, copy writing and social media continues to grow as she takes on the role of account executive. Maggie spreads the word about TrendyMinds clients through traditional and new media channels, in addition to account management to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
She is currently co-chair of the social media committee for the Hoosier Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. In her spare time, Maggie can be found walking her dog Presley (yes, after Elvis), cheering on the Hoosiers and checking out the latest and greatest in Indianapolis.
I’d gather my friends and family for a huge shopping spree. Afterwards, I’d bring in all my favorite artists for a night time music festival complete with the best food and drinks.
I love going beyond client expectations with results they can measure. I’m always thinking about the big picture.
I go to great lengths to organize my closet. It gives me peace of mind.
My MacBook and photo albums. Then I would double check to make sure everyone was safe.
Teleportation. It would be sweet to be able to snap my fingers and be in Rome.
Rachel McAdams. I’ve been a fan since Mean Girls. She’s managed to stay grounded and have some class.
Get LASIK eye surgery. I would love to wake up in the morning and be able to see across the room. Someday soon I hope…
I go for a drive. Preferably down a country road with the windows down and a fresh playlist.
I think I would do really well in Key West. There’s no income tax and I’d never be cold.
I was on the swim team in high school, which is why I’d be a shoe in for synchronized swimming.
