Marissa joins TrendyMinds with a diverse background of writing, media and public relations experience.
Marissa earned a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri. As an undergraduate, she had the opportunity to report for the mid-Missouri NPR station and work as a production assistant and reporter at KOMU-TV, an NBC affiliate. She also fed her passion for philanthropy and volunteerism by serving as the Vice President of Community Service for her sorority.
Marissa spent her collegiate summers holding internships in marketing and public relations, her first in the community initiatives department at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. While at The Children’s Museum, Marissa helped implement a marketing strategy to grow the community programs and wrote copy for the first museum giveback report. During an internship at a digital marketing and public relations agency, Marissa created press kits and monitored and responded to media queries.
Always curious, Marissa is an avid reader and considers herself a bit of a news junkie. When she isn’t scanning the news or her Twitter feed, you can find Marissa catching a show at any of the Indianapolis community theaters or feverishly cheering on her Missouri Tigers.
I would buy houses in all of my favorite places and any place I’ve ever wanted to visit. Then I’d buy a private jet and a lifetime’s worth of fuel so I could visit those places whenever I wanted, even after the 24 hours was up. Oh, and I’d donate a bunch of money to my favorite charities too.
I love harnessing the creativity and excitement of a new idea and turning it into something tangible.
I hate wearing socks because I absolutely despise the way the seams feel on my toes.
My computer, a scrapbook that my friends made for me as a birthday present and a lock box that has all of my important documents in it.
Considering I hate driving, I would love to have the power of teleportation.
Idina Menzel. Hands down.
Buy a drum set and learn how to play it.
Any musical theater performance.
No one would have to force me to move to Florence, Italy. The art, food, architecture and history of that city create the most amazing culture I’ve ever experienced.
Even though I’ve never actually played, I always become obsessed with curling during the Winter Olympics. So I’d say curling.
