Little mistakes can add up.
Last week I received three pieces of promotional mail from the same bank offering incentives for becoming a new member. Which would be great if I wasn’t already a member. First of all, I’m a little insulted that they don’t even know I’m a member since I’ve been banking with them for over 15 years. Secondly, I started wondering how much money are they wasting since I’m probably not the only member receiving these? Three in one week is rare, but on average I receive four a month. If I do some quick math that comes to 48 pieces (4 x 12 months) of mail annually for... read on
It is predicted that by the end of 2011, global smartphone sales will surpass global PC sales – reaching 400 million a year. This milestone isn’t surprising. Take one look around any airport or coffee shop and you’re bound to find more people on their smartphone than talking to the person beside them. Yeah, this is quite the bummer for mankind, but what does this mean for our clients?
Simple. Every site we create must be mobile web friendly.
Sounds easy enough, right? Well let’s think about that for a minute. There are over 15 different smartphone manufacturers, each with dozens of... read on
An old sweatshirt, your comfy t-shirt, a favorite pillow, your 1999 Apple iBook?
We can all be guilty of finding comfort in a familiar belonging, holding on to relics that are irreplaceable. Fortunately, we can be afforded these comforts in most all facets except for one – technology.
It’s hard to forget the Best Buy Super Bowl Commercial that boasts ever-evolving cell phone service. It seems every advertisement encourages us to upgrade. Although it is frustrating (and uneconomical) to keep-up, there is one advancement we at TrendyMinds believe it’s time you get on board with: HTML5.

As impervious to social media jargon as we might be, those of us in our 20s and teens are often replacing fundamental language and communication skills with hash tags and acronyms in real life situations. It isn’t just what we are posting on social media sites that may be harming us, growing up on social networking is hindering the refined communication skills it takes to relate to people the “old-fashioned way”: in person.
Though some may be... read on
I recently spent 12 days in my hometown – Osaka, Japan (unaffected by the earthquake and/or radiation). It’s always refreshing to go home and immerse myself in a completely different culture. But something stood out to me during this trip that I had never seen before – American technology was being used everywhere!
One of my favorite things to do in Japan (other than to eat and shop) is browse Japanese electronic stores. Japanese technology, especially cell phones, is usually ahead of the curve. In the past I came home spouting to my friends about how fascinated I was with the new... read on
You can do a lot of things in 15 years. In my case, I covered what happened to other people. Tragedy, elation, corruption, victory, comedy, errors. I have just about seen it all. I interviewed presidents one day and John Smith the next. Sometimes, (actually more often than not) John was more fascinating than powerful leaders. I saw people at their best and at their lowest possible point. I talked to grieving mothers and people battling horrendous diseases with grace. It was within their depth that I learned what true compassion looks like.
I discovered that you can never take... read on
The recent hit single by Lady Gaga “Born This Way” has raised many concerns among music fans because it is strikingly similar to Madonna’s 1985 single “Express Yourself.” Whether or not she stole the beat from her is debatable, but there is no doubt that the two songs have similarities. Even the themes of the two songs are similar if you think about it. Lady Gaga is basically saying that you should love yourself, and not to live in regrets. While Madonna’s song is about expressing your feelings and respecting yourself. Both songs are essentially built around the same idea, self-esteem. I... read on
We all remember our first visit to Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Stepping foot onto Main Street USA brings an awe-filled smile to even the most over-stimulated, jet-lagged child. Seeing the enormous castle made fairy tale living believable and enticing. In a perfect world (such as that of the Disney fantasy), all websites would create similar reactions from visitors. Unfortunately, most sites cause visitors to turn and run away like adorable Dalmatian puppies from Cruella de Vil.
When your audience views your website, it is important to create a similar unforgettable experience. While it... read on
