The month of January was a busy one for the TrendyMinds video crew.  We completed 20 video shoots in 30 calendar days. From VIP parties for “The Big Game” to operating rooms, every location had its own challenges. And between CEOs and surgeons, things could have gotten tricky. Below are a few things that ensured each video shoot was successful and efficient – a goal for any project. While a few of these points may seem like no brainers, it’s important they not be forgotten.

    • You might get off schedule. So be flexible. While your time is important, the star of the video’s time is more... read on

Thanks to amazing clients and a talented crew, this past year has brought about some great changes at our agency. We’re excited to give you a peek into one of our newest projects, the construction of our new location. As some of you know, we are in the midst of creating our new agency home. After nearly three years of sitting empty, the former Carpenters Union Hall is undergoing a massive renovation to turn it into our sleek and modern office building.

We purchased the building at 531 E Market Street on October 24th and have been “decking the hall” with a formidable demolition crew since... read on

Poetry often gets a bad rap for being too intellectual, academic or pedantic. (Yes, I said pedantic - as in tedious and fussy, like a toddler pageant updo. Real word divas, those poets.) I find the opposite to be true. My education in poetry has benefited my writing tenfold. I think it would serve anybody well to look at prose with the discerning eye of a poet.

Like poetry, the ability to say something in a few words that evoke a desired feeling or response is crucial in business, especially in the advertising and PR industries. Whether writing copy or sending an email, focus on the key... read on

By now, most businesses are implementing some form of basic SEO.  Whether it’s optimizing page titles and structure, or optimizing all pictures, content and folder structure, it’s important to build your site with SEO in mind.

Most people agree that Google is the leading search engine (by a significant margin).  By receiving over 65% of all search traffic, Google has been busy at work with trying to return the most relevant results as quickly as possible.

Recently, the search engine giant has released their latest version of their algorithm, Panda.  With the release of Panda came a... read on

It's a common practice in life, and particularly in business, to anoint a specific group of people "the creative ones." Searching for a clever idea? Ask the creative ones. In need of a snappy paragraph? Have a creative person write it.

While there's no doubt some of us simply have a knack for thinking outside of the box, the long-held presumption that only certain individuals are capable of churning out Grade A ideas is one that should be put to rest. Just because you don't wear skinny jeans, listen to indie rock or go to gallery openings doesn't mean you lack the capacity for... read on

It is predicted that by the end of 2011, global smartphone sales will surpass global PC sales – reaching 400 million a year. This milestone isn’t surprising. Take one look around any airport or coffee shop and you’re bound to find more people on their smartphone than talking to the person beside them. Yeah, this is quite the bummer for mankind, but what does this mean for our clients?

Simple. Every site we create must be mobile web friendly.

Sounds easy enough, right? Well let’s think about that for a minute. There are over 15 different smartphone manufacturers, each with dozens of... read on

Local news has gotten a bad rap.

There’s no denying smartphones and social media are a part of our daily lives. Who has time to wait for the news to be printed tomorrow morning when you can see a live update in .5 seconds?

Really, I thought my workday would come to a screeching halt when Apple introduced the new iPhone 4S last week.

But ironically, a new study has shown that many of us still go “old school” and rely on local news stations as our go-to source for breaking news, weather, traffic and politics.

The “how people learn about their local community” study by the Pew Internet... read on

Inspiration. It can be your best friend. Or your worst enemy.

After a few weeks in the TrendyMinds office, I’ve come to discover that inspiration is more than just a theory. It’s literally oozing out of the dry wall here on Mass Ave.

Whether you’re a designer, a writer or a web developer, you have to find a source. Which got me thinking – where do I find inspiration? And how do I channel it to be the most productive?

For some designers, it’s easy to go off of a keen eye or a sense of knowing  “what looks good.” That’s instinct. And often what sets apart the great from the good.... read on
