By now, most businesses are implementing some form of basic SEO.  Whether it’s optimizing page titles and structure, or optimizing all pictures, content and folder structure, it’s important to build your site with SEO in mind.

Most people agree that Google is the leading search engine (by a significant margin).  By receiving over 65% of all search traffic, Google has been busy at work with trying to return the most relevant results as quickly as possible.

Recently, the search engine giant has released their latest version of their algorithm, Panda.  With the release of Panda came a... read on

It is predicted that by the end of 2011, global smartphone sales will surpass global PC sales – reaching 400 million a year. This milestone isn’t surprising. Take one look around any airport or coffee shop and you’re bound to find more people on their smartphone than talking to the person beside them. Yeah, this is quite the bummer for mankind, but what does this mean for our clients?

Simple. Every site we create must be mobile web friendly.

Sounds easy enough, right? Well let’s think about that for a minute. There are over 15 different smartphone manufacturers, each with dozens of... read on

Over the course of 2011, TrendyMinds has been fortunate enough to work with several clients on an international level. Whether they’re new to the market or old-timers on the scene, international audiences require a different approach and a decent amount of research.

To avoid a cross-cultural blunder and embarrassment for both agency and client, be sure to cover all the bases. Just because characters in the movie Austin Powers use the term “randy” on a regular basis, doesn’t mean it’s appropriate in the UK.

Here are some things to consider when launching an international campaign:

An old sweatshirt, your comfy t-shirt, a favorite pillow, your 1999 Apple iBook?

We can all be guilty of finding comfort in a familiar belonging, holding on to relics that are irreplaceable. Fortunately, we can be afforded these comforts in most all facets except for one – technology.

It’s hard to forget the Best Buy Super Bowl Commercial that boasts ever-evolving cell phone service. It seems every advertisement encourages us to upgrade. Although it is frustrating (and uneconomical) to keep-up, there is one advancement we at TrendyMinds believe it’s time you get on board with: HTML5.

It’s time for my third annual South by Southwest (SXSW) wrap-up post. A vacation immediately following SXSW delayed my post this year, but hopefully my conference wrap-up details will more than make up for it.

This conversation led by Mark Hemeon and Whitney Hess, focused on discussing important project aspects with clients, regardless of how sensitive the topics may be. Budgets, payments, client representation and other key issues were brought up during this panel.

Whenever the topic of budget comes up, a defensive position seems to quickly follow by both... read on

One of the most frustrating things a user can encounter on the Internet is the “404 Page Not Found” error. It can pop up when a site is under construction, still in development, or found in search engine results for pages that have been moved. When the link lands on an error page that says nothing about where to look next, it creates a level of frustration for the website’s visitors.

Here are a few good reasons to create proper redirects:

We all remember our first visit to Disney’s Magic Kingdom.  Stepping foot onto Main Street USA brings an awe-filled smile to even the most over-stimulated, jet-lagged child. Seeing the enormous castle made fairy tale living believable and enticing.  In a perfect world (such as that of the Disney fantasy), all websites would create similar reactions from visitors. Unfortunately, most sites cause visitors to turn and run away like adorable Dalmatian puppies from Cruella de Vil.

When your audience views your website, it is important to create a similar unforgettable experience.  While it... read on

The beginning of the year is an exciting time at TrendyMinds. Our pro-bono program is kicking off (for the third consecutive year), and we’re beginning to get to know a new “class” of worthy organizations. This year our program is giving $50,000 worth of in-kind creative, strategic and interactive services to non-profits here in Indiana and around the country. In the past three years, we’ve contributed more than a quarter of a million dollars to nonprofits. That’s a pretty amazing program to be  a part of, if you ask me.

Half of the fun of our pro-bono program is the voting process --... read on
