I was sitting in a meeting the other day listening to a woman speak about her dissatisfaction regarding a previous agency she had tapped to handle the advertising and public relations needs for her company. Her chief complaint was feeling that her company was not the number one priority of the agency. She further explained that there didn't seem to be any type of consistent project management system in place, and as a result, projects weren't completed when promised.

Project management is a major problem for many advertising and PR agencies, yet implementing a few tidy processes may... read on

From Pepsi to Folgers to Doritos to the neighborhood business down the road, corporate decision makers are letting the public call the shots on marketing strategy. They’re asking you – yes, you -- to come up with slogans and taglines, jingles and theme songs, logos and business names, products and flavors.

Let’s take a behind-the-scenes look at how this crowdsourcing phenomenon was born, shall we?

    Scene: Boardroom. Marketing meeting.

CEO: Sales are down nationwide for Big Box USA. Consumers aren’t responding to our current promotions. What’s our next move?

CMO: Well, we have an... read on

When many think about public relations and marketing, they think of traditional methods – press releases and media placements, brochures and signage or special offers and promotions. While these methods can certainly be effective, they can get a little, well... boring. Yawn.

So what’s the new trend in strategic communications? A method called stealth marketing is emerging as an exciting (and sometimes controversial) way to get the public’s attention. Marketers are getting sneaky... like a fox.

Fortune 500 companies are giving stealth marketing a try. BlackBerry <a... read on

Last week I was fortunate enough to attend the South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive conference in Austin, Texas with the rest of the TrendyMinds team. I had anticipated five days of learning, networking and inspiration, and my expectations were high. Everyone talks about SXSW as being the best conference the industry offers -- and it isn't often that an industry conference gains an obsessively passionate following.

    But now I get it.

SXSW was an amazing experience. It was exhausting, to be sure. Sessions run back-to-back from 9:30am to 6:00pm. Your feet are sore and swollen from walking... read on

In just one short month, the TrendyMinds staff will be heading to Austin, Texas for the biggest, baddest industry conference around, the place where everybody who’s anybody in the industry will be -- South by Southwest (or, as the cool kids call it, SXSW).

Part nerd prom, part industry conference and part "scene to be seen," SXSW is arguably the most influential industry gathering of its kind. With the big names in the business like Pete Cashmore (Mashable), Evan Williams (Twitter) and Ben Huh (CEO of Pet Holding Inc, which brought the world some of the most viral blog we’ve seen like... read on

Each year we are asked to find holiday gifts for our clients to give to their clients. It is always tough to determine which items are not only a good fit, but also the best fit for the season. Some people want to spend a lot of money to impress their clients, while others want to slide by and spend the least amount possible.

Whatever you decide, make it relevant and make it something that you would use. We use this same mantra when deciding our holiday gifts. It gets a little tougher to pick items when you factor in the "who will be offended," "who will actually use it," "who thinks it... read on

It's hard to believe that it's already been four months since I joined the TrendyMinds team.  It seems like it was only a few weeks ago that I made the move from my job with a large advertising agency in Louisville to our full service, boutique office in Indianapolis.

From the moment I walked through the front door, I have been able to participate and contribute my skills and knowledge on a variety of public relations and interactive projects.  I can say, without a doubt, that TrendyMinds has offered more opportunities for participating on client projects and increasing my familiarity... read on

Recently I had the opportunity to take a vacation to Greece. If you've never been, I encourage you to place the country on the top of your travel list. The people are friendly, the islands are beautiful, the history is rich, and the food is delicious.

On our last evening in Mykonos (which also happened to be my partner's 37th birthday), we sought out a tasty place to dine and asked the front desk clerk at our hotel for some help. Sale & Pepper (or "Salt & Pepper" as we thought it was called) is a little Italian restaurant on the island of Mykonos. Tucked away in the Laka district of Hora,... read on
